| Job Description: |
- Ensure that all codes are current and active
- Receive and review patient charts and documents for accuracy
- Report missing or incomplete documentation
- Performs internal audit/review as directed. Meet daily coding production.
- Update and maintain documentation related to specialty instructions
- Provide the resolution of coding-related queries on a run-time basis
- Ensure proper coding on provider documentation to Performs accurate charge entries
- Serves as a resource to resolve insurance queries and coding questions
- Follows coding guidelines and legal requirements to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations
- Provide LCD/NCD guidelines as required. Cross-check the CCI/NCCI edits prior to submission
- Performs additional duties assigned by the coding manager as needed
Medical Coder Qualifications
- Must have a Bachelor’s degree in the following domains: MBBS, BDS, PHARM-D, Botany, Zoology, Biotechnology (Masters) or any other relevant field
- Maintain coding certification and attends in-service training as required
- At least having two (2) years of medical coding experience
- Must have a sound knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS codes
- Understanding of medical terminologies, anatomy, and physiology
- Ability to work independently or as an active member of a team
- Strong computer skills & knowledge of Electronic Medical Record software and Microsoft Office
- Accurate and precise attention to detail related to CMS Guidelines
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
