The SQL Server Database Administrator role is responsible for providing operational database services to the organization.

Required qualifications and duties include:

• Owning, tracking, and resolving database related incidents and requests.


• Assisting developers in optimizing SQL code and stored procedures to ensure optimal SQL Server performance. Develop SSIS Packages and SSRS Reports.


• Reviewing service-related reports (database backups, maintenance, monitoring) on a daily basis to ensure service-related issues are identified and resolved within established SLAs.


• Responding to database related alerts and escalations and working with database engineering to come up with strategic solutions to recurring problems.


• Initiating and performing changes on production systems and proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes.


• Continued self-development in order to understand latest database advancements.


• Experience or training in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Sentry One.


• Ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.


• Working knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands.


• Working knowledge of indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, patching.


• Knowledge of SQL Server tools ( Profiler, DTA, SSMS, SAC, SSCM, PerfMon, DMVs, system sprocs).


• SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design ( stored procs, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints). Ability to write SSIS packages and convert queries in SSRS Reports.
