Job Description:

Main Responsibilities:

His/her job assignments would include but not restricted to:

  • Function as a communication hub for the department assuring that requests for official information are handled promptly.
  • Handle enquiries and coordinate with the departmental visitors to ensure their safe travel/stay to/at LUMS.
  • Manage all RA/ TA contracts in co-ordination with the HR department including contracts for external grants.
  • Manage PhD student stipends.
  • Raise and follow indents to procure scientific/non-scientific items for the department in coordination with the lab facilitator.
  • Maintain the inventory of departmental stores and keep track of in-coming and out-coming items in coordination with the lab facilitator.
  • Under the direction of the departmental, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all other departmental faculty and staff, assuring that necessary information is provided on a timely basis.
  • Ensure that the minutes of departmental meetings are prepared, distributed, approved and recorded.
  • Establish and maintain proper records and files of correspondence, meetings, and reports.
  • Manage and improve departmental interaction with any other department/office at LUMS.
  • Assist departmental chair/faculty to interact with any other office/department outside LUMS for official purpose.
  • Manage all communications equipment in the office of the departmental chair, assuring that they are in working order and operating as intended.
  • Provide administrative assistance as necessary to other departmental colleagues.
  • Perform any other administrative duties as assigned by the department chair.
