Education/Experience Requirements A successful candidate must possess a teaching certificate or relevant experience in the chosen field and a stable internet connection. Some employers may require teachers to take local or international phone calls, so a personal landline may be necessary.
Skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills, teaching skills, time management and organizational skills, interpersonal skills, advanced computer skills, and English proficiency. Online teachers should also be punctual, patient, friendly, reliable, creative, energetic and work well independently.
Specific work elements developing weekly courses based on the subject assigned; grading weekly discussions; writing and grading assignments; contacting students via e-mail or instant messengers regularly; posting course announcements to students; maintaining student records; and observing student progress, among others.
